Classes offered
This class prepares those who are having a home birth by discussing what to expect at a home birth as opposed to a hospital birth. We will cover what is inside the mysterious homebirth birth kit box, the difference of a water birth vs. land birth, and why weighing your baby is not the first thing done! We discuss comfort measures, breathing techniques, the stages of labor, the emotional aspects of labor, the transition into parenthood, etc. This is a hands-on, everyone is involved kinda class so we all enjoy our time together. There is usually a pot-luck dinner involved!
Fertility Awareness Method: There are at least 2 classes, each class will last 1 1/2 hours. $30
I have been practicing this method for the past 4 1/2 years and know that males and females need to have a solid understanding of how a woman's body works in order to abstain or achieve pregnancy. We will emphasize the 3 basic principles of this method and how to chart them. We will also talk about ecological breastfeeding and the 7 standards that are needed in order to abstain from pregnancy. The primary text we will be using is Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler.
Blessingway
The celebration can last for 1 1/2 to 3 hours, if you are a doula client the cost is FREE!
The goal of this party is to shy away from traditional baby showers and to have the focus be on the mother. We accomplish this by inviting the meaningful women in your life and participating in a bead ceremony, a blessing to the mother presentation, foot washing, belly dancing, and by trying to shift our focus from gift giving to heart giving. This is a really fun celebration that I would love to host for you! If you would like to incorporate henna tattoos for you and your guests the charge will be around $25 (depending on what you would like done and how many people will be there).
